(see map below) rehearsals are led by the musical director, liam owens. rehearsals are enjoyable and focused and include voice coaching, musical interpretation and choral performance. auditions oriel singers do not usually undergo auditions. however, members usually have basic sight-reading skills and enjoy singing in a wide range of choral styles. the choir sings at a variety of functions and frequently perform in fund raising concerts. for further information, please visit our future and previous engagements pages. membership membership, however, is not confined to music making and members also enjoy meeting together socially after a rehearsal or concert. take pride in being a welcoming and talented amateur choir. for more information on , please call in to a tuesday night rehearsal or contact the choir via [email protected] -- -- previous engagements our programmes are varied and we hope that the wide range of music we perform interests audiences and singers alike. during liverpool capital of culture year (2008) we were pleased to link with the half circle singers (sutton coldfield) and the damon singers (chesham) to perform an all american programme celebrating liverpool`s place as a gateway to the new world. we performed bernstein`s chichester psalms, tippett`s spirituals (from a child of our time) along with music by copland and eric whittaker. the following year, we joined with our sutton coldfield friends for an exciting performance of carmina burana (orff). in recent years we`ve performed many more concert works including: the armed man (jenkins), haydn`s mass in a time of war, the requiems of mozart, cherubini,faure and rutter, handel`s coronation anthems in a joint programme with purcell`s funeral music. to celebrate his centenary year, we have recently performed britten`s ceremony of carols and hymn to st celia. and of course, we continue to enjoy our popular christmas performances at speke hall and other venues around merseyside as well as our summer and charity concerts from which we draw our repertoire from diverse sources including in the mood, european sacred music, the oxford book of tudor anthems and the trusty book of english madrigals! see. something for everyone! some of our most recent concerts have been at: all hallows, allerton asylum link at st anne's, overbury street calderstones park liverpool parish church bradbury fields blackburn cathedral speke hall st michael's in the hamlet useful links john fletcher's useful site for voice parts contact us our base is in our lady and st nicholas parish church which is located in the hub of the business district in liverpool. this is the heart of the city and offers salubrious surroundings. contact the oriels directly through the form below, email [email protected] send message -- first name * last name * email address * telephone number comments * -- -- join us "i joined the oriels last september and received a really warm welcome. the thing i love best is the challenge: we perform some lovely medieval church music but then throw in a bit of gershwin for light relief (harder than it sounds!). yes, we do work hard but there`s always time for a laugh and joke and one member periodically brings liquor chocolates; can`t be bad!"
